AA has sorted it - it gave a full refund based on the delay making trip non viable
It is not going to give compensation too ( calling it "service recovery" doesn't make it something different )
AA may have rerouted to the destination if possible and may well have credited for the original routing to its own scheme - credt to another scheme is less likely
Not aware of many airlines that will simply apply FF miles et al where travel did not take place
