I don't think any travel insurance will be stupid enough to cover at full value valuable items placed in a checked bag, I think you can figure it out why...
It is free in the way that is is included with your credit card, i.e. it is not a "standalone" insurance where you pay only for the insurance and therefore have better coverage, I have one through my bank which covers up to 5000€ for luggage with 'valuable items' limited to 1250€ which would roughly cover my laptop
