Downgrade

Mr NW has been downgraded on the lunchtime DXB-LHR. It was a very last minute trip booked yesterday afternoon flying out late yesterday in CW and returning after 6 hours on the ground in WT+ which is all that was available. I spoke to the GGL line this morning and asked for him to be waitlisted for a paid upgrade to CW. I queried whether he was going to be denied boarding as he was checked in but no seat was assigned. I was told this would not be the case as there were a couple of unassigned seats available but that the aircraft was now under airport control.

Mr NW has been told he will be given a voucher to compensate him. Is there any risk in accepting this - I.e. Is this a way to con him out of EC261 comp - or will he still be able to claim compensation on his return?

How to we calculate what will be due to him? I know it is 75% of his ticket price but presume it is just the return leg and not his whole ticket including the CW outbound. How do we work out what the return ticket price was?
