You can add it later.
Since you're booking a redemption anyway, there's no benefit to booking the car at the same time as the flights - it's only when you're booking a revenue flight and car that package prices can be better than booking the components. There is no package pricing when booking award seats.
I too am finding BA car rental prices to be the best so far for my upcoming CPT trip - and I'm a travel agent!
