MEA and UK electronic travel ban

As I started to discuss in a different thread, I have an upcoming travel with an overnight layover in BEY and then to LHR.

This mean I will need to check all my electronics (laptop, tablet, camera) in the hold.

I asked MEA if they would cover the case where those gets damaged or stolen and they sent me back to the website which says:

Under the conditions of carriage (on the reverse of the passenger coupon of your ticket), we accept no liability for the loss of jewelry, other valuables and money contained in checked baggage. You are advised to keep valuables, important documents and money either on your person or in your cabin baggage.
And added that it was a gouvernemental restriction, so not their fault, so they won't do anything about it (such as reroute through Paris for example).

I called Amex, which I used to book and pay the ticket: they cover valuable items up to £500 which isn't enough for a laptop.

It seems that we end up in a crazy situation where a carrier doesn't want to do anything about a situation where you are forced to do something which every insurance contract doesn't want to cover.

From the experience I was reported in a different thread, it appears that it may be possible to check a bag at the gate containing the electronics, reducing the risks but it's still not ideal at all.

If you had a trip BEY-LHR recently, could you describe your experience under the electronic ban? Did MEA offer additional coverage? Did MEA offer some compensation for any missing item?
