Overnight Delay: 17/4 BA66 PHL-LHR

It's finally happened, my first tech...

Tonight's (17/4) BA66 from Philadelphia has been delayed for 26 hours due to what I understand to be damage sustained whilst on the ground in PHL. We spent around 2 hours on board while they searched for the spare part needed to fix the problem. Communication was great from the captain and the crew kept us well watered during the wait. Finally they announced that no parts were available and it will need to be flown in from Heathrow on tomorrow's flight. First and Club passengers were put up at the Marriott while WTP and WT went to the Clarion.

It was a full flight this evening, just wondering if there were any other FTers on board?

A couple of other questions:

1) From reading the sticky on EU261, it appears that this delay qualifies for €600 compensation. Any hints or tips on what to do or not to do? Ground staff did mention that we will get a letter tomorrow when we check in which I assume is all I need to make a claim?

2) Is it worth me calling the Gold line to get on another flight? Maybe on the BA66 scheduled for tomorrow rather than the rescheduled BA66 from today? Just in case they don't manage to fix the plane tomorrow and risk another delay?

Thank you in advance!
