I can SO empathise! We have the same ritual, although more normally at Gatwick (by the way, the smoking area was much more accessible at North than it is now at South).
Arrive at terminal...smoke...check in....smoke. Then keys, watch and change into pockets, laptop out and belt off, before striding 'carefully' to security.
