A couple of points. First, try and shorten your post. You can forget about any compensation for emotional pain. This said, if you had a valid ticket Air Canada was legally required to fly you. If they forced you to buy a new ticket simply ask for a charge back, if that doesn't work send a registered letter indicating that you will begin legal proceedings if your refund is not in your credit card in seven days. Airlines usually pay attention once they are served with legal papers. You might be able to recover your extra costs but it's not guaranteed. Good luck.
