Is there anything really 'fair' about IDB? In most cases, its due to actions purposely taken by the airline to maximize revenue/profit. Overbooking is done on purpose, not accidentally. Perhaps last minute equipment changes are less avoidable, but IDB, by its very nature, doesn't seem 'fair' in that one side made a conscious decision not to hold up its end of the deal. I get that it happens daily. I get that it makes financial sense, but in most cases, it was the result of a business decision, not some random accident or incident.
