Really don't understand BA on this, I assume they've heard of the law of diminishing returns? If you lose experienced staff it is not easy or sometimes possible to get them back when you realise that you've mad a mistake and things go wrong.
The cynic would say that the current management don't care. They will trouser bonuses for cutting costs then push off elsewhere. The future of the business can look after itself
