Would like some advice, was delayed by 2 hours leaving PVG on the return leg of LHR-HEL-PVG-HEL-LHR.
All booked on a single ticket. 2 hour delay meant I missed the connecting flight to LHR, AY put me up in a hotel and provided a meal but ended up getting me back to london 16 hours later than the scheduled arrival time.
They claim the delay in PVG was due to chinese ATC, no explanation given beyond that. Given there were 3 later flights on the same day which they did not offer to book me in on (other passengers who kicked up a fuss did get booked into these flights) do I have a claim under 261? I took the offer they made of the hotel on purpose to give myself a chance of 261 compensation as they made this offer only and no other offers, the people who got rebooked onto earlier flights complained that they could see cash tickets still available.
