Stay at Ayres Orange. Our go to had been the Garden Grove for several years, but it needs an update. We just got back from Ayres Orange. Free parking, free wi-fi, great breakfast that's included (much much better than the Sheraton Club) plus you can take your food and eat by the pool. Our two bed room was 480 SF. We faced I5, but it was still quiet. Tons of parking. They have an early check-in option for $30. Beds were awesome. Nice big key entry only business room with three computers. Work out room looked nicely equipped. Microwave, fridge, but no safe. Directv kind of worked. Maybe the batteries were low. Easy I5 access from hotel. Getting to the hotel was kind of weird. Best way is to take Katella East and then College South.
No more Sheraton Garden Grove for this kid.
But that's not an SPG property, right? So if trying to earn SPG points (especially in a promo) that doesn't help much.
The new SPG alternative in the area is the Hotel Menage (which i think used to be independent?), but it doesn't seem to offer free parking, and I'm not sure whether it's any better than the (current state of the) Sheraton GG or not. (I've never stayed at the Menage and it's been a few years since I last stayed at the Sheraton GG. What I really like in the area is Marriott Anaheim Suites GG, where the buffet breakfast in the restaurant is free to Marriott Gold/Plat and thus SPG Gold/Plat if they've "linked".)
Meanwhile, there's usually free street parking overnight a couple blocks from the Sheraton GG, so
I think of it as having free parking, even though the official lot isn't free.
