Anyway, I too noticed that I was only charged for one day of use, not for the entire rental period. A quick call and a fax of my Sunpass account and the charge was removed, but maybe AVIS is changing their policy.

I rarely rent from HERTZ, but AVIS seems to outsource their e-toll program to a company in NY called platepass, so maybe it was platepass who made the change.
