Speaking of which, I just realized it would be cheaper for me to redeem a Delta flight for the main leg. I haven't noticed because Delta hasn't opened up booking availability for the week I'm traveling yet.
For example:
CPH -> AMS (KLM), AMS -> DTW (Delta), DTW -> AUS (Delta)
vs
CPH -> AMS (KLM), AMS -> IAH (KLM)
Both trips costs the same 125k pts, but the Delta flight costs $100 less in fees. Furthermore, if I fly into IAH, I'd have to find another short flight on my own from IAH to my home in AUS, which costs me ~18.5k pts more.
Since you have experience with Delta, may I ask you what yours thoughts are on Delta vs. KLM business class? Is it worth paying 18.5k pts + $100 more for KLM business class vs Delta?
