Stay Report - April 6-7

Location: The hotel is located on Nursery Road near the intersection of I-195 and MD-295 (The Baltimore/Washington Parkway) near many of the other BWI hotels. Nearby are some chain restaurants and the like but they aren't an easy walk. The hotel shuttle will pick up at the airport and the rail station, though I took an Uber to BWI Amtrak which cost $6.50. The area around the hotel is quiet and sleepy.

Hotel: The hotel definitely has that "This used to be a Holiday Inn and then Doubletree bought it" feel to it. The layout is odd in fact. The hotel has two towers for their rooms and a sprawling ground floor which has an oddly cramped lobby with tiny bar stuck in the middle of it and restaurant in the corner and an even smaller breakfast area but a ton of meeting space. On the plus side, the lobby, bar area and restaurant are all recently renovated.

Check In: My additional guest had no issues checking in first. when I showed up to get my key the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful about answering questions and offered me fresh cookies.

Room: Surprisingly small. Like I said earlier, the hotel is repurposed and the rooms show it. While it's nice they provide a microwave and Kuerig, the fact that they're stuck on top of desk not only looks weird but it makes the desk unusable. On the positive side, everything worked well at least.

Other: I left too early for breakfast, Diamonds get a coupon for a buffet in the breakfast restaurant. Dinner stops at 10 PM and room service at 11 but the bar is open until 12. I had a late dinner and the food was actually surprisingly good.

My rate was $119 and I'd stay here again, the hotel may be a bit old but for an airport property it's fine.
