You can quickly see whether a reservation has a Gold number applied by logging out of Hertz.com, pulling up your reservation by confirmation number, and then clicking the "Modify" button. If it pops up an error that you need to log in before modifying, then your Gold number is successfully applied.
I just did this..
While logged out of my Hertz account a Fiat 500L was $18.04 euro/day (using 50+ age promo), logged in to my account same car was $21.93/day. While logged in it also didn't seem to show as many cars available with prices. (some said "get quote") I chose a lower priced Lancia Ypsilon @ 12.22 Euro/day (didn't show while logged in). Renting Rome to Milan 2.5 days. Seems like there is a CDW $12, Theft $12 added automatically. Total $84 euro Renting with Chase Sapphire Reserve so not sure if I could delete the CDW and theft after the fact. Don't really care though as they are minimal.
Gmail has arrived with new confirmation number. Logged in to Hertz android app and reservation is there. Interesting the the notes it says Hertz Gold does not apply for country of rental. I suppose that means no upgrade if Hertz 5 stars level. Actually, I just opened this Hertz account about 5 days ago and applied for status matching based on Avis, National status.
