I'm in SF, but my family is in DFW (we also connect there often flying AA)

As mentioned earlier, this happened almost every flight pre-9/11, but stopped after that. HOWEVER, my last 7 flights into DFW (all in 2004) I've had to wait for the gate to clear...regardless if we arrived early or not.

very frustrating to have arrived, but not have arrived.
