Perhaps they forgot to give him a written copy, but regardless the crew I am sure notified him of why they were doing so. I do not possess skills as a mindreader, thus can't possibly divine what was in the mind of the crew or the passenger, or what would or would not have changed his mind. What I am saying is that the UA staff did NOT approach the situation "by the book" per their own and DOT guidelines as the CEO and spokespersons repeatedly insisted.
