This. I've had a few TSA document checkers try this, and have told them they weren't getting my passport. Had to call a supervisor twice, purely on principle, who of course just looked annoyed at being bothered with something so stupid and let me through.
The reason I refuse to show TSA my passport is because I've previously had them rifle through and play CBP by asking questions about some of my more unusual visas... sorry, but the fact that I've got an Iranian visa is not relevant to you.
