I used to frequent these forums a lot as I used to fly a lot. I don't fly at all now and wont for a while. My understanding was that to keep my account active all I had to do was transfer my avios from myself to my wife's which would keep each others account active for 2 more years.

Since our last flights were almost 2 years ago I was looking to do this, however I can see that there is a £25 charge to do this now. I also understand that the amount of time your account can be active is 3 years now?

My questions are is it definitely 3 years of inactivity before you lose your avios and is there a way to keep it going without spending any money? Maybe I can spend some avios on something minor? I have 64K between us with 57K of it attributed to my account. Would I get a warning before I lose my avios?
