Granted, there are probably lots of things I could do to generate more non-flying spend, like shopping in Tesco, churning cards more etc. But wasn't that the case 10 years ago as well, with people buying TV brackets and such like?

I'm still not sure Avios are universally easier to accumulate than 10 years ago, which was the point I responded to.
