On the morning of departure, I asked for, and was granted, a 2pm checkout at a luxury hotel (EUR 500+ per night). I received a call at 1pm asking if I needed help with my luggage -- the tactful approach. Mildly annoyed, I didn't play along but just curtly said that I confirmed a 2pm checkout with her colleague earlier. I wonder if some people interpret the tactful question literally?
