SFO - EWR isn't a short flight by any means and burning extra miles to get off TYO - SFO J and get on a transcon in Y is a pretty miserable way to end a trip.

If you can get J to ORD/IAD and then Y up to NYC that would change the calculus for me in favor of the TYO J option or of course J to EWR/JFK obviously being the top.
This is kind of what I was thinking. That it would really suck to do the Y from SFO after flying the Polaris TYO-SFO. So was basically trying to get a feel for whether or not it was worth it just to get the Polaris "experience". I know it is a new product but I didn't really get the "OMG you must fly this" feeling from the thread dedicated to it.

But you make a very good point. From Chicago in Y is a little less painful than from SFO. I am not seeing it on the booking site but may just call them and ask if that is available.
