You can happily book on BA.com. You should always - always - tick the box to say the cardholder isn't travelling when you enter the payment details to ensure that you aren't asked for the card when checking in, and don't need to worry about what happens if your card is lost or replaced in the meantime.
Won't something flag as odd if the cardholder's name appears on the list of passengers names, but you tick 'cardholder not travelling...?
I used to do as
710 77345 suggests. But that period included one of the occasions on which I was asked by BA for the card. So I haven't set any store by this since then.
