Ex-TWA MD-80s: Some Observations On The New Interiors
I flew from LGA to AUS via HOU (AA 1643) this past Thursday on an ex-TWA MD-80 that had been fitted with the new interiors and thought I would share some observations about the First Class cabin.
1. The four rows of seats are arranged pretty much side by side such that 6 A&C are no longer behind 6 D&F.
2. The bulkhead seats, especially 3 A&C, have substantially more legroom than the AA MD-80s. I doubt anyone would be able to reach the wall on the 3 A&C, regardless of leg length.
3. Powerports were installed, but did not work at my seat. I am not sure if this was a localized problem or if they were not operational. The FA thought the system was working,
4. Overhead bins had not been expanded, but based on an e-mail from lat week or the week before, that is set to change.
5. The forward bathroom is in the same place, but, due to the extra legroom at the bulkhead seats, seemed further away from the seating area.
6. The seats are the same AA MD-80 seats we are used to and have the thicker back pad to correct for the headrest problem.
