I strongly recommend that anybody doing self-drives in game reserves consider renting a SUV, for one single reason: the extra height dramatically improves the game viewing, especially in thickly vegetated areas, or where the grass is high at the end of the rainy season. If you can afford the extra expense, it is well worth it.
