Review : Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade

Introduction Here is my review of an excellent 2 night-stay in Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade with a great spring weather in town. The hotel is located on one of the most emblematic avenue of Lisbon : avenida da Liberdade, very centrally located and walking distance from all touristic sites. There is a metro station (Avenida) just in front of the entrance (it cannot be closer !). You can easily reach the airport with the metro with only 1 change, but Uber was so cheap (Euros 8) that the choice was very easy. There is no lounge in this hotel. Check In As a French person, traveling to Portugal is always nice as almost everyone speaks very good French there, so you can travel lazy :-). Of course at the Sofitel, this was even more the case and all the staff spoke to me in perfect French. Even the hand-written welcome note from the (Portuguese) GM was in French. This is another Accor hotel where the slogan "Feel welcome" means something. I was indeed very kindly welcomed and acknowledged as a Platinum member, and I was clearly expected. I was spontaneously upgraded from Superior to Luxury. The room was facing the avenue. I was accompanied to my room and I was given another welcome letter explaining the platinum benefits:- welcome drink (valid for beer, wine and of course port wine !!)- room upgrade- VIP treatment = plate of pastries- newspaper in room everyday (a French newspaper was already in my room when I arrived)- late check-out (I asked for a 4 pm one and it was no problem)- free wifi (but it's free for everybody)They also gave me another voucher which entitle you to have a free bottle of Portuguese wine if you have dinner at the hotel restaurant (Ad Lib) Room The Luxury room was not huge in size but large enough for me. Espresso machine available and the usual amenities. Nice modern bathroom with plenty of Hermes products ;-) Some aspects of the decoration are a bit dated but the room was still in very good condition. The hotel has apparently started a renovation, as per this note that was placed on the desk. Dining The restaurant Ad Lib where I had an excellent dinner The bar, to enjoy a delicious Port wine glass The breakfast is taken in a windowless underground room (which I haven't seen as I didn't have breakfast). Service Turndown service was provided every evening. Chocolates and water were given. Overall Overall, a very good stay with good Platinum recognition (despite a close-to-fully booked hotel with only the room category I booked that was available on the day of my arrival, they upgraded me).I recommend this hotel, without hesitation, if you go to Lisbon either for work or pleasure.
