But yes, the Susquehanna is a magnificent river. Well worthy of a good look when flying over.
As someone who grew up on the banks of (a polluted section of) the Susquehanna, I never thought I'd live to see the day when it would be used as a case study in crew control of window shades on a 787!!! I guess I'll have to fly from Europe to IAD in a window seat, and make sure to fight for might right to control the shade when flying through Pennsylvania!

For those of you who want to get your Susquehanna-spotting fix and have full control over your window shade, take the E145 from ORD-AVP, and make sure to sit in the single "A" seat, and enjoy the view on the descent. I have never once had an FA ask window seat passengers to close their shades inflight on an E145 flight.

And to get this thread back on topic, I'm in the "passenger in the window seat gets to control the window shade" camp. I prefer the aisle, and loss of control over the view is the price of admission. It does get annoying when I'm trying to watch a movie and the light is streaming in, but to me that's preferable than climbing over the aisle passenger to use the lav. I don't begrudge the window passenger the right to enjoy the view out the window, or the natural light for reading/working. I don't think that the airline crew should be dictating the status of the window shades outside of safety reasons.
