So why don't they just start making planes without windows? It would be safer and cheaper, surely. Then none of these arguments would happen. Pity, because it's fun reading about them. But I would be horrified if I couldn't see out during turbulence! Just so, as mentioned above, the eye has a point of reference.
Safety issues. If there's ever the need of an evacuation, you need to be able to properly assess the situation outside.
