You do illustrate the difficulty of getting hold of tickets for most PL games. With the greatest of respect, in contrast Blackburn-Preston in the Championship was not particularly high profile and would never have sold out - Ewood Park holds 30,000, and the average attendance is something like 11,000. If they'd have got anything over 20,000 for that game it would have been a major surprise - Burnley is the Lancashire derby that counts for Blackburn fans.
Oh I agree. It was just that Blackburn lists Preston specifically on their website as one of the games they could choose to control ticket sales for that caused me to contact them ahead of time. There were a large number of Preston fans that made the trip (the whole Darwen End pretty much).
But like I said, other friends who have gone to bigger games (like Newcastle-Sunderland) have had luck getting tickets by contacting the teams directly and explaining the situation.
