In the many flights I've taken on AC and Jazz/Express I often observe(d) that the Jazz FAs were less consistent in service levels than mainline. Sometimes good and sometimes pretty bad or just plain weird (had a really weird one on a Dash 8 a couple of weeks ago).

I've lately been flying Encore more than I used to and have noticed that Westjet is much more consistent with excellent FAs than Encore. Sometimes the Encore FAs are top notch, and other times less so. No one is ever outright rude or anything like that, just that there is a noticeable difference at times in the consistency from flight to flight. I chock this up to there being more new hires on Encore and thus them being less experienced.

I was on an Encore YUL-YYZ flight yesterday and was quite surprised by the front FA's behaviour during boarding. I boarded Zone 1, so close to the beginning, and she had her back turned away from the door with her head in the cockpit. I was sitting in the first few rows and noticed that she never turned around the whole time the flight boarded, until the GA came along to get the count. The FA spent the whole time joking and chatting with the pilots. It seemed very odd to me as I had never seen anything like it before. I didn't think too much of it, but it seemed very un-Westjet-like. The FA working the back was actually moving up and down the aircraft to get people sorted, but the front one paid no attention to what was going on. By comparison, my mainline connecting flight had an FA at the door who greeted everyone and got involved with helping people find their seats, etc., which is the more usual thing one would expect (great crew overall, in fact).

During the Encore flight, service was friendly and as normal. It's truly not a big deal, but I am curious if others have noticed any differences between Encore and mainline in terms of FAs...
