Limiting it to gold is not a "Status match" to anyone who is top tier somewhere else.

It's in place to try and attract top tier and/or valuable customers from competitors, they aren't going to do that by matching a top tier in one to the middle one.

As long as they are checking that the matches are genuine (which they appear to be doing as there were reports last year of accounts being suspended/downgraded/closed due to falsified status matches) I really don't see what the problem is.

It's a business at the end of day and they are doing nothing I wouldn't do myself if it were my business.
