In addition, at least half a dozen J seats were frozen and unable to recline, including mine. So a team of technicians had to board the flight to fix them.
The crew didn't have the initiative to switch on the entertainment system nor distribute snacks whilst all this was happening. In fact this crew was a really talkative bunch who spent the entire flight chatting with each other. Big contrast with the crews on my last 2 trips on the KUL-LHR route over the last 14 months.
The entertainment selection is clearly a weak spot - I flew with them in February, and the selection s not noticeably changed 2 months later.
Looks like MH is still being run by a bunch of bunglers. They need to go bankrupt again.
That sounds like a total lack of planning on their part and someone obviously dropped a massive clangger if water was not filled up and seats in J were not checked prior to boarding if there were any issues.
I have complained many times to MH about the quality of their on board entertainment choices..they keep recycling the same movies into their "favourites" section and add 10-14 new movies which, most of us probably have already seen in the cinema.
I know it is a small issue to some but when you fly as regularly as I do on MH, especially on their wide body aircraft, it gets incredibly fustrating given when you fly SQ, or emirates, the difference entertainment quality and options are massive.
It's one aspect they have been very quiet about and pretended not to want to deal with when talking to the media.
On the second part of the comment, I don't think they have these problems on 99% of their flights everyday. The issues you faced seem to be a one off situation as it is very abnormal and again, something went wrong with the pre-flight preparations obviously. I don't think there is a need to castigate them for that though you should of course not be happy, especially if the attitude of the crew was as lax and as slack as it was. I fly the Kul-London route regularly and have only had cause to complain or be unhappy three times over the past 20 years with the attitude of the crew handling my section of the flight.
And that's like 1% of all the flights I take on MH. Maybe even less.
