This might be a little bit difficult considering what you have just said above but I'd recommend stopping in Odense for a few hours if you can manage. The historical centre is very cute and if the kids are familiar with Andersen's tales, they might be interesting for them as well.

Also, keep in mind that you'll have to pay the toll to cross the Great Belt Bridge. I wasn't aware of it when I did the exact same journey a few years ago and I remember it to be quite steep (around 40 USD if memory serves correctly).
