Then they would rightly be called an idiot.
As for the practical aspect of getting into the house, it would have to be whatever contingency plans they'd have set up in case they lose their house keys on the street or someone has to be let into the house while they're on the other side of the world. If they don't have any contingency plans, it could well be a call to a locksmith to break into the house and replace the broken lock.
