One suggestion I received was Andorra la Vella in Andorra, but that appears to be more of a shopping center than an historic town.
I would recommend Ripoll. It's a very charming town, easy to see in one day, with some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside. And it's an easy drive from BCN.
Also recommended would be Sant Sadurni (for cava tours; Cordiniu is very good).
