If it's any comfort, my post right before yours said I got the same response 2 days ago. Today I looked at my Chase account (I have an IHG card) and see there is a Southwest Card that has been added - just haven't got the paperwork from them yet :-)
Ok, good to know! I seem to have overlooked it. The "we'll let you know by US Mail" part kind of sounded like a tacit denial.
