I've had this happen to me too, though not necessarily with that word -- did you maybe recently do a Google search where "award" was one of the search terms and the followed a link in the search results to FT?

(After playing around with this a bit I think it's related to FT search and not Google search, but I still can't 100% replicate it.)

If that's the issue, you can fix it by going to your browser preferences and look at the cookies for flyertalk.com and one of them will be related to search results or something (I'm not in this condition right now, so I don't remember the exact cookie name) and delete that cookie and the word should no longer be highlighted.
