Do I have to do anything about updating passport info for award flights on partner airlines when I get a new passport?

I've updated my passport info on aa.com for my profile and existing reservations (including those on partner airlines), but I don't know if AA sent the info to the partner at booking or whether they do it later (or not at all) or if there's anything I should be doing.
