At that point the screen showed 8 people total, 49 booked and 4 checked in.
Order on the visible list (of 1Ks on W fares with GPUs applied) is by time of check-in. The upgrade clearance order prior to the actual gate is by time of GPU request. This can explain discrepancies in the order.
The number checked in is the number of people with confirmed seats in the premium cabin checked in, not the number of upgrade eligible customers.
