On an A350 now and CSD informs me that from today wifi is only free for an hour unless you are Plat or Emerald where it is free for the whole flight. It seems that when entering name and seat number it is able to differentiate between business and elite.

Apparently research has shown that people only use it briefly anyway.... glad I am emerald
