Depends on exactly how much you check the app, but remember the list only shows people who have checked in. Furthermore, I believe it's reported that checking in triggers a sweep. Likely (a) was ahead of everyone and they checked in when they arrived at the airport between T-60 and T-30 (minutes). Also don't forget any of those pax could have been 1Ks on M fares, or other 1Ks with instruments ahead of you in addition to GS.
How were you determining there was only 1 seat left? If seatmap, could have been unblocked seats. If from inventory, then could have been a cancel or misconnect.
