The alternative is to stay at the Westin or SGS and take the Skytrain right in front of the hotels to the Taksin Bridge station. This station is right on the river and is the last stop so its impossible to get lost. Many boats stop there and will take you to the sights on the river. While it may be a 15 minute or so ride from the Westin or SGS, its certrainly possible. I don't like the Royal Orchid as you really can't get to anywhere else from it except the river sights without taking a taxi, to me a major pain.

Vulcan,

I wish I had this information before my visit. It would have made life alot easier. 1.5 hrs in a cab to travel what seemed like 6 miles with a child was a nightmare. Next time time I will use the Sky train.
