I would be delighted with fruit and cheese in place of the normal dessert (cookie or whatever) in domestic first. Instead of the meal? No. I always like to have the option of having something more substantial on the plane, especially if I have something that I have to do immediately on arrival.
The problem is that the quality of the meals has become so uneven and unpredictable that I no longer count on being able to have a good meal on board. If I'm hungry and about to get on a long flight, I eat in the airport, even if booked in FC. I've been burned too many times at this point.
