for the other poster who said other hotels charge it: I am not aware of any other airport hotels that charge it, AND maybe they have public transport going to it too.
The Hilton is not on any transport route and as I said, since now anyone can have free internet, I as a Diamond member feel I have no "special" perk to stay there, and the CHF 5 (which must be paid in cash) is not only a preposterous nuisance, it's really shooting themselves in the foot - I used to spend about 20 nights a year there, which I now give to other hotels.
As mentioned in that thread, the Dublin Airport Hilton charges for their shuttle. There are some airport hotels that I stay at that do not even have a shuttle bus, so I'm not too put out by the fee. As long as they note it on the website then I can make a choice on whether the daily rate + the shuttle fee is worth it compared to other choices. When a hotel doesn't note parking and shuttle fees on their website, is when I become annoyed. And I am a diamond member also.
Also walking to the ZRH Hilton isn't bad if you don't like the fee.
