Personally I would have rather seen the free drink service continue and a decent BoB food option, but given this might be too much for the bean counters, if BA had continued to offer a soft drink and possible small snack to all pax like QF and VA, then they might have happier pax and a more effective BoB service for food and alcoholic/premium drinks.

If they had offered free drinks/food to anyone entitled to these in the lounge then frequent flyers would not object to the change in policy - it surely can't cost BA any more to give the product away to its perceived HVCs on board rather than in the lounge, pius in the current situation it might make the trolley service quicker as fewer pax would be waiting for the payment system.
If crew are struggling to get down the whole plane already, how is making certain things free to some, fewer things to some others and even fewer things to another group of people, how exactly will that help. What about the GCH at the back who doesn't get his freebie because it takes so long as the crew have to consult the ipad?
