I can see why you would be annoyed, but it really did sound like an unfortunate accident and as you say, this could've happened on any flight around the world, not just on BA. Perhaps other airlines would've been more generous in their compensation but this is the "new BA" and I'm sure there is a policy and limit that they have to stick to for these types of incidents.

If you feel that your collective experiences on BA are so bad, then of course it is your decision to leave, but given BA's strong position at Heathrow/Gatwick and their range of destinations and flight options, you will probably still find yourself on a BA flight in the future.

Finally from a FT perspective, did you look into booking an ex-EU flight to Barbados? I would assume you could get some ex-EU Club World flights for a lot less than £3,000!
