Cool Pacific NW Mom starting out. Need advice

Trying to earn enough miles somehow to get a trip to Orlando this December before my oldest graduates high school. I have a Venture Rewards Card and should have my 40k bonus miles soon. Also will have some United miles from some trips in the next few months. 5k for myself and 5k for my 16 yr old son got free tickets from my ex for special tournament my son is in next month. Plus I have 3 trips for me and my two younger kids on a United flight to Hawaii in June (I paid cash for... ouch!!!!!) not sure how many miles I'll get from those. I really never fly... but It's a special trip for a family reunion I felt I had to go to before my dad can't travel anymore... so I bought them for about $2100. Ugh

I have never used miles to travel before so I'm wondering what would be your best option for me if I wanted to earn enough to take them to Orlando. Just economy, staying in a normal room? I REALLY want to take them on this trip. I'm guessing I should stick to United for air? What hotel points would be a good option? Or keep using air miles from credit cards? I saw Hilton Honors and though maybe it'd be a good idea?? But want your advice before I get that card. Thinking it's not a good card for what I want to do.

Thank you for your advice. I'm so excited!! It's for me and my three kids. So lots of miles needed.
