I know MH will allow up to 2 pieces of checked luggage in both Y & J (weight limit is 30kg/40kg respectively).
When I check in at KUL, what if I my total checked baggage weight is > 30kg? Will they refuse to check through my bags to LAX?
If you're on a single PNR (single booking reference number), then AA will be your most significant carrier and the US piece system applies since your destination ends in the US (2 pieces of luggage at 23kg each).
However if you're on 2 different PNRs thats where my question lies. Either way, MH will interline for you in this scenario and check your luggage all the way to LAX. Based on the answers here, it seems that you'll be stuck with the MH luggage allowance.
