Yes, of course. That's the point- ease of use. Pay $450; receive $600 in first year. Chase makes money from the fee they charge the merchant as well. Their competitors do not make money from the fee . The second year on has an effective AF of $150. You have to use the other benefits to make it worth your while. You can even further extend the argument - it is a Net 0 fee card for the first 2 years because you will almost certain to receive 3x $300 travel credit if you put in some thought in your timing of getting the card. Heck some folks even get the 3X$300 with paying ONLY ONE annual fee if they timed it right for their app in Dec!
With the lounge benefit being so disappointing for many - it would be interesting to see the attrition rate come Sept this year. The CSP if one qualifies the bonus again, with its first year AF waived, most likely beats holding on the CSR, in many people's real lives scenario.
